“Where’s The Grief?”

After the death of his 21-year-old brother, emerging comedian Jordan Ferber found himself in a surreal situation. By night he would be on stage performing but during the day managing the grief from a tragic loss. According to Jordan, “It was very hard to be in a profession that allowed me to go onstage and talk about myself and my life, despite the fact that I felt as though there was a huge part of my life that I DIDN’T talk about at all onstage”. Where’s The Grief is a podcast focused on grief and loss. The goal of which is to acknowledge the reality of grief. Losing someone and grieving can be a very isolating experience, to say the least. Jordan’s podcast aims to help normalize the conversation and get people more comfortable talking about their feelings with friends and loved ones.

This is a safe space for everyone to feel a little less alone in their grieving journey, but it’s here to raise awareness too. So whether you’re grieving or not, join in on the conversation.

Grief without a physical death: Honoring a spectrum of losses‬”

Amy Wright Glenn talks about what it means to live in a grief-denying, grief-phobic culture, and steps we can take to work toward shifting this culture. We also talk about grieving losses that don't involve a physical death (e.g., estrangements, challenging relationships with caregivers, loved ones with mental health challenges, visions for who we think we might have been had it not been for trauma and other adverse life experiences) and how these losses can get encoded in our memories and stored in our bodies even if they occurred at an early age. We also discuss how our early models for relating to emotions affect our own processing of grief and relationship to grieving. We also talk about the intersection of grief and gratitude, and how the two can co-exist without gratitude bypassing or minimizing the genuine pain of grief and loss.

A Christian Perspective on Grief”

On this podcast, David Powlison discusses a Christian perspective on Elisabeth Kubler-Ross’ five stages of grief. While Kubler-Ross provides a helpful starting point for the discussion of dealing with death and the hard things of life, the Christian perspective is always paired with 1 Thessalonians 4:13: “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope” (ESV).
